About Langton's Theatre Residency Program
Langton's downstairs space is a flexible 50-seat theater easily transformed into an installation space, a screening room, a concert hall, or a quiet place for a reading. Since 1975, the theater has been used as a space for artists and audiences to connect, debate, witness, and experience contemporary art. Past participating artists and theater companies include Asian American Theater Company, David Cunningham Projects, Joan Jeanrenaud, Theater Release, and Thunderbird Theater Company.
The Theater Residency Program offers the downstairs space to independent producers and artists at affordable rates. By opening its doors to artists and arts organizations without permanent homes, Langton allows local talents to develop and present work. Renters are given freedom to use the space as they wish and are offered access to Langton's facilities including a ~850 sq. ft. main performance space with seating for 50-60 people, as well as ~400 sq. ft. of spacious backstage area. The theater is equipped with 12-piece lighting, stereo audio system, and a raised tech booth loft.
